Colette Bulber Tanner started teaching at Our Lady Queen of Heaven School in 2002. She is the director of the 4th-8th grade choirs & the 5th-8th grade handbell choirs. She also teaches general music for grades kindergarten and 4th grade. Mrs. Tanner has over 25 years of experience teaching in both the Public School System and the Diocese of Lake Charles Schools. She has a BMEd (1994) and an MMEd (1996) from McNeese State University, is a Certified Catechist from Holy Cross College, and holds a special certification in Kodaly Music Education. She has also spent time studying in England (Cambridge) and performing in Italy (Rome and Assisi).

Currently, Mrs. Tanner also serves as the Choral Director at SLCHS, directs the Lake Charles Messiah & Orchestra, and is the Director of Music for OLQH Church Parish. She has been chosen as the Louisiana Music Educators - District V MUSIC TEACHER OF THE YEAR multiple times. Mrs. Tanner graduated from OLQHS in 1985 and from SLCHS in 1989. She and her husband, Marcus Tanner, have 3 sons: Aaron, Benjamin, and Colin…all of whom are alumni of OLQHS. Her favorite liturgy of the year is the Festival of Lights & Wreaths held on the first Tuesday of Advent. And, of course, her favorite school activity is the bi-annual production of a full-scale musical.
